LO Project: Scrapbooking Starter Class @ PaperMarket, The Clementi Mall

Yesterday, I went on a Scrapbooking Starter class at PaperMarket here in Singapore.  Well, I know it's quite odd for me to go on a starter class, but I just wanted to use up my complimentary class voucher which is expiring this month.

Well, it was a bit too basic for me, but I had tons of fun.  I have never scrapped in a group before.  Yesterday was a first for me, and I really enjoyed myself! :)

Our hostess was Grace.  She started off with an introduction to the different kinds of papers used for scrapping - patterend paper, glitter paper, felt paper, vellum, etc.  Then some tips and tricks on how to pick proper photos to scrap.  She also taught us how we can make our own basic flower embellishments with punched out flower dies, a paper piercer, and a brad.  She also showed some techniques like how to use the cutting tool, punchers, and some basic distressing.  They were all worthwhile, especially for beginners.  The two ladies I was in the class with found it really helpful, I think. :)

After the quick intros, we were asked to pick 3 papers to use on our layouts.  Since I brought some of our wedding photos to class, my choices were more on the romantic and lovey-dovey side.

We had 1.5 hours to put everything together with Grace's guidance.   And at the end of the session, this was my finished product.  And I am pleased with how it turned out!

Upon reaching home, I got a bit bothered by the "void" in the upper right area of the layout.  I thought it was quite bare, so I need to put something there.  I also added a ribbon on the tag, and made something up for the "journalling".  So the (ultimate) finished product now looks like this...

Nice.  Very nice. :)

Here's the layout recipe.

Base: Amy Tangerine Stitched Paper
DP: Bazzill Basics Paper - Love Story Collection
Lettering: American Crafts Foam Stickers - Fancy
Rhinestone: Zva Creative

I am thinking of framing it up.  It would be a pity to keep it in an album now, don't you think??

Thank you for looking! Leave me some love.

Singapore Adventure: Last September Weekend

Today was a really fun day for the Cookies.  A plenty of "firsts" for us... :)

1.  In search of plastic sleeves for my cards, we ventured into the shopping jungle that is Bugis. We've been to the Bugis MRT station several times already. But we have never really visited the popular shopping destination across.  Unfortunately, we didn't find what we came for.  But I got a few tips from my friend Pipay on where I could find the sleeves.  According to her, it should be there in Bugis but in a different area of the shopping complex.  We might give it another shot next weekend.

2.  After Bugis, we headed to Raffles Shopping Centre. There were a lot of people milling around in that area due to the F1 Grand Prix going on this weekend.  But we know where were going so it was easy navigating through the crowd.  Of course, what's Wifey Cookie's favorite shop at Raffles Shopping Centre....?  Paper Market! :) I finally got my VIP Card.  Wanna see...?

While there, I picked up a few new supplies. Some yellow ribbon...  New additions to my stash, the first 2 yellows. :)

A new stamp set from Studio Calico (my first of this brand) and ink pad.  And some Prima flowers.  I've always been fascinated how to incorporate flowers into layouts.  So maybe I'll give that a shot in the challenges coming up this week.

3. We had a late lunch of Mushroom Stroganoff at The Soup Spoon. After lunch, we went for a little stroll and found that the Once Upon a Milkshake booth is already open.  We gave there Chocolate Truffle Milkshake a shot.  It was nice, but not worth the price.  A medium cup costs 5.70SGD. And there really isn't anything special about it.  Probably just the name. :)

4.  After all the shopping, we finally headed off to my godson Dylan's first birthday party.  It was a fun party.   The kids were dressed as super heroes and they were all so adorable.  The magician was quite entertaining as well.  Kids and adults alike had a great time. :)

It was quite a long day, but a really fun one, especially it being spent with my Hubby Cookie, a bit of shopping, and a fun party! :)  A great way of capping off September 2011.

So to all my friends who asked for it.... Wake up! Wake up! September is coming to an end.

Singapore Adventure: New Supplies!!!

Yesterday, I went on a crazy crafting supplies shopping spree.  And the best thing about it was Hubby Cookie being there to carry my shopping basket! Hahaha... Shopping assistant mode on for Hubby Cookie. :)

I bought new paper packs and cardstock.  Mostly Christmas themed and more masculine prints.

I also got a new clear stamp set from Bo Bunny. A first in my collection. And some bling! :)

My favorite purchase yesterday would be these fantastic ribbons from American Crafts. :)

I can't wait to start using all of them on cards and (crossing fingers) scrapbook pages.
